Its Food Season Again

Well folks, now that the kitchen is back in working order (still no counter tops - but that doesn't stop me!), I have been back in business making dinner every night as well as a very scrumptious dessert.

Lets do dessert first, shall we.
I present the Pumpkin Cheesecake Cake from Shugary Sweets.  This was beyond good.  Guess when you slap cheesecake in the middle of something that is what you get though  ;)  Here is a shot of this beauty in my kitchen.
Can you find the beautiful cake amongst the beauty of the rest of the kitchen?

Another semi-dessert type treat I made was breakfast.  Pumpkin Scones from Iowa Girl Eats.
The two layers of drizzled glaze were not necessary - these would taste just fine without it.  I ended up with WAY too much glaze.  Would recommend cutting the amount in half...or even by 1/4 if you are doing both the normal glaze and the spiced glaze.

Onto the sustainable food...

Slow Cooker Pasta from Sara Nickel

Chicken Quesadillas from Iowa Girl Eats

Best. Quesadilla. Ever.  I love when Josh gives me a "You need to make this again!"

Grilled Cheese and Slow Cooker Tomato Soup

Penne with Sweet Potato Sauce from Daily Garnish

Grossest. Pasta. Ever.  Ok, ok, juuust kidding.  But really, it wasn't that great...there is a big bowl in my fridge still that I am afraid won't get eaten.  It really needed something else added to it; another flavor-pop of some sort.  Any ideas?  Hoping to salvage the left overs!  On an evil plus side, I got Josh's sister to eat this before telling her there was tofu in it..mwahahaha

Pumpkin Mushroom Risotto from Sweet Salty Spicy

Yum!!  Was afraid that you would just taste pumpkin - but it tasted wonderful and flavorful.

Avocado Spaghetti Squash Pasta from Oh She Glows

This avocado pasta sauce is to die for...why haven't I made it sooner?!

Vegan Chili from Healthy Girl's Kitchen

Just a normal Chili - nothing to write home about.

Quinoa and Apple Stuffed Acorn Squash from Daily Garnish

I actually have not eaten one of these yet!  Josh said they were good.  But it wasn't a "You need to make this again!" good.  I think I need to come up with a rating system for these dishes..

And now onto a few random photos :)  We have been having a good amount of wild life in the front yard with fall rolling around.
Been baiting squirrels with pumpkins.  I wonder if the squirrel actually climbed into this hole to eat the seeds.
Snoops has been scouting the deer.  They like the acorns.
Got some on sale "Pie Pumpkins" from Home Depot.  50 cents a piece.  I put pie pumpkins in quotes because when I cooked them up, the results did not taste very pumpkin-y  :(   At least the seeds were good!!!
And last, but not least, we now have photos in our kitchen photo collage!!!

Our kitchen is really coming along.  Finding that it is the little touches that count the most  :)  Happy Election Day everyone!!
